THESIS STUDY: GOAT NUTRITION

Seventy goats have been randomly assigned to one of seven treatments. There are two pens per treatment, five goats per pen. Three treatments consist of one of the following, Coastal Bermudagrass hay, Tifton85 hay, or Sorghum Sudan hay. Another three treatments contain one of the above types of hay along with a protein supplement. The other treatment is a complete pelleted ration. Body weights and orts are collected bi-weekly on alternating weeks.
The objective of this study is to determine feed intake, average daily gain, and efficiency of gain of goats fed Coastal Bermudagrass hay, Tifton85 hay, or Sorghum Sudan hay, with or without a protein supplement, as compared to goats fed a complete pelleted ration.
